Size
Adult hatchetfish will grow to roughly one and a half inches in length.
Tank Size
Keep your hatchetfish in at least a ten gallon tank. Bigger is always better, particularly if you are new to fishkeeping.
Strata
The hatchetfish generally lives and eats in the upper quadrant of the aquarium.
Water pH
Hatchetfish enjoy any pH between 5 and 7.5.
Water Parameters
Keep your nitrate levels below 20 ppm when caring for hatchetfish. Ammonia and nitrite levels should be as low as possible.
